The Bucintoro’s fleet was born even before the society itself with the “Dodesona” – its flagship built in 1874 – now at the third rebuilding of this type of boat.
Although not the primary vocation of the rowing club, starting from the 1975 Vogalonga, the revival of this traditional form rowing led the RSCB to acquire the remarkable number of 28 Venetian boats. The club fleet today consists of the smallest and most versatile mascarete, sandali, traditional puparini and caorline, the more celebrated gondolas and balotinas, one of which was made by the expert hands of Giuseppe Giuponi, maestro d’ascia, whose work marked the recent history of Venetian shipbuilding.
